Clemson senior QB Cullen Harper is off to a disappointing start and with popular backup Willy Korn waiting in the wings, Harper is feeling the weight of expectations. Compounding matters, the blind side of his offensive line won’t play on Saturday.
Boone criticizes OSU fans
Good timing? Not Ohio State senior OLT Alex Boone’s forte, apparently. With the taste of OSU’s demoralizing loss to USC still in fans’ mouths, Boone spoke out against the booing of QB Todd Boeckman. Not one for clichés, Boone explained back in August why he isn’t a team captain, despite being a logical choice: he jokes too much, unlike former teammate Kirk Barton, who “dogged people out.”
Murray trying to do too much
Oklahoma sophomore RB Demarco Murray is a home-run hitter, as evidenced by his breakthrough freshman season, but his coaches think he’s seeking out the big play too often this season.
Tebow’s numbers down, but play hasn’t slipped
Florida has been impressive in the early going. Junior QB Tim Tebow, last year’s Heisman winner, has been steady, but hasn’t shouldered an extensive load. Simply, the Gators haven’t needed Tebow to don his cape.
Cunningham probable after hurting knee
Florida junior DE Jermaine Cunningham hyper-extended his knee in the win against Tennessee, but finished the ballgame. He was on crutches yesterday, but is probable for Saturday’s contest against Mississippi, according to head coach Urban Meyer.
Recruitnik’s delight
Two of the most highly recruited receivers in recent memory will be on the field in Athens this weekend, as true freshmen A.J. Green and Julio Jones, of Georgia and Alabama, respectively, figure to play prominent roles in Saturday night’s primetime affair. Both are physically mature beyond their years with NFL futures.
Pressley’s actions speak volumes
Wisconsin senior FB Chris Pressley, a team co-captain, sets the tempo on offense for the Badgers.
Heisman update
Quarterbacks have taken center stage through four weeks.
