Korn headed for postseason shoulder surgery
A frayed labrum will require postseason surgery on backup quarterback Willy Korn's right shoulder, Clemson interim coach Dabo Swinney said Tuesday.
Pulled from pre-game drills Saturday at Virginia, Korn did not play in the Tigers' 13-3 win. His throws were labored and he became frustrated during the warmup. Korn underwent an MRI on Sunday.
"We'll probably clean that up Sunday or Monday depending on the bowl situation," Swinney said. The Tigers practiced indoors on Monday due to rain. "He actually threw the ball better today. We're going to watch him tomorrow out in the elements. We just told him to cut it loose, and we'll see how it does."
Korn, a redshirt freshman from Byrnes High School, started against Georgia Tech and played in five other games this season.
Swinney said Michael Wade, a sophomore from Riverside High, will also work with the second team in practice this week.
